Émile P. Torres is a philosopher and historian whose research focuses on existential threats to civilization and humanity. Their main interests include machine superintelligence, eschatology, and the philosophy and ethics of human extinction. Their most book is Human Extinction: A History or the Science and Ethics of Annihilation.

Torres has written widely for publications suchs as The Washington Post, Aeon, Philosophy Now, Metaphilosophy, and many more. They have also been a visiting scholar at the Future of Humanity Institute, based in Oxford.
